...we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless.

Listen to the Exhortation of the Dawn!
Look to this Day!
For it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the
Verities and Realities of your Existence.
The Bliss of Growth,
The Glory of Action,
The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And To-morrow is only a Vision;
But To-day well lived makes
Every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,
And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn!

True wisdom is the ability to observe and accept every point of view with equanimity. No judgement, wisdom has to be lived

A quick summary of December 20, 2005:

Went to work 8:45 am. Got to drive vehicle #44 (a Crown Victoria w/police interceptor package--it bails!)

Failed to read that my first pickup @9:40 was in Loudonville...

9:35 jumped in the car to leave to get there (anywhere in Ashland) in time...

10:15 show up for my 9:40 pickup, but it was cool b/c she said it was better that way anyway (God hooks it up SO awesome).

1 pm park car b/c I'm done (it was just some extra time I picked up to help out)

1:30 Went to Richland Mall with my sister and watched my nephew make goofy faces while he got his picture taken w/Santa (he's 2.5)

2:15 Reaquired "License to Ill" & "Ill Communication" by the Beasty Boys--finally

6 Went to eat at Jake's Steakhouse with everyone from work.

6:30 While focused on what absurd comments to write in the last few Christmas cards I bought just before going to Jake's --walked into the ladies bathroom to write the comments-- COMPLETELY oblivious to this fact until politely pointed out by a lady that "I was in the ladies room."--oops! hehehheehehe

7 Gave out cards that met with pensive curiousity as they all began to note that the cards bore strange salutations for Christmas cards (e.g "Congratulations on Your Retirement"

9 Went to mom's and got my sewing machine & an end table to set(use) it on

10 Walmart to get more of a particularly awesome Satin w/oriental print fabric and a pattern for a shoulder drape.

11 Marked 4 pleats on skirt front liner pieces of my coat, then made about 12 taylor tacks in three other pieces of fabric before I could remove the patterns

...Eventually got to here

Sorry, nothing too interesting; but something to read.
Todd

This was a comment I wrote on 1/18/06 in response to a journal entry by a friend on that same day. The mood now and when I wrote this do not correspond.

Sounds like "one of those days." When I'm living them it's easy to get caught up in the frustration at the moment, but then afterwards, like you, I reflect and see that it was all that bad. I believe it's just a combined effect of the events in conjunction with the immediacy & fleeting nature of time that make it so aggitating. I kinda think of it like rain sometimes. In some sense I appreciate it for reminding me that I'm here to experience such events--like a drop of rain on the cheek reminds me that I'm still alive & that God Loves me. For instance... As I was reading/attempting to read your journal I was also attempting to eat a grilled stuffed burrito from Taco Bell. Of course I also must have my Hot & Fire sauce to accentuate the taste. But of course with the first line of your journal was the accompanying event of opening the first packets of hot sauce (1 Hot + 1 Fire=1 Yummy) & with a nearly predictable nature--the Hot sauce of course tore completely down the entire side. The Fire sauce was well behaved, but now I had this predicament. Well I managed to utilize all the sauce anyway. But of course that was only good for the first two "bits-o-burrito" (I coined that phrase myself). So, I have to open another 1 Hot+ 1 Fire combo every two bites. While these additional endeavors proved succesful, it was not a fearless plight. Each and every time after the first, the corner of the sauce packets refused to tear completely off. So I was left trying to gently, but firmly, tear away the corners of the packets. Now, I don't know what your experience may be with packets, but I know the worries that were going through my head!!! I imagine that you, and most others, would think "Man I hope it doesn't squirt out onto my clothes or something." But this initial guess only identifies you as a memeber of "the Spicy Foods Uninitiate." No no no, I would not be worried at all about the How/Fire sauce squirting out onto my clothes. In fact that would be preferable to the real dangers. My main concern was not that the sauce might squirt my clothes, but that if it were accidentally made airborne, it would go striaght into my eye as usual!!! DON'T ASK ME??? I don't make the rules, I just deal with them. This of course was the experience with each and every sauce couplet--with one exception. As I finished reading journal, I also finished the last bite of the burrito. For good measure, I decided to eat one more Hot/Fire sauce combo straight--it just tastes great! THIS ONE however--tore right off--without the slightest effort or strain. And there were no uncontrolled variables that account for the difference. Each sauce packet gained my full and undivided attention. I think God was just funin with me--it's great!

Note: This, along with several other blogs are copied from my Myspace blogs from the last few years for purposes of testing the functions of the site. This blog in particular is not referring to THIS site's blog pages, but now that I've re-read it, I'll make sure to avoid the pitfall I complained about below.

Cheers, Chaos

To anyone who may have wondered where I was, why I hadn't logged in, etc. It's because for whatever reason there was--I COULDN'T |

Ps. The "Tell us what you're reading..." box below always aggitates me. I don't always listen to music. If I was watching TV, I wouldn't be typing this and I certainly wouldn't be blogging if I was trying to read. Maybe the books that some people read are compatible with blogging. Not mine. Friday night I finished a book on Chaos Theory, last night I finished another on Fractals. Now I'm reading "Being and Nothingness" by Jean Paul Sartre. I'm also studying my Psychology book and books on Financial Planning. None of these are worth spending you time reading if you're also goofing around--you have to focus, FOCUS People!! hehehe
